"Moment's Notice" is a composition by tenor saxophonist John Coltrane, recorded on September 15, 1957, at Rudy Van Gelder's studio for Blue Note Records. It appeared on the celebrated album Blue Train, released in January 1958, and stands as one of Coltrane's most important hard bop–era works.

The tune is centered in E-flat major and follows an unusual 38-bar ABAC form. Its harmonic language is defined by rapidly shifting, chromatically linked II-V progressions—sometimes called "contiguous II-Vs"—that foreshadow the advanced harmonic concepts Coltrane would later develop on Giant Steps. The C section introduces a dominant pedal point sustained over six bars, building considerable tension before the return. Played at a brisk tempo, the fast-moving changes demand keen harmonic awareness from improvisers, making it one of the most challenging and rewarding standards in the jazz canon.

Coltrane recorded "Moment's Notice" only once, but that single session produced a masterful performance. The Blue Train lineup included Lee Morgan (trumpet), Curtis Fuller (trombone), Kenny Drew (piano), Paul Chambers (bass), and Philly Joe Jones (drums). Since the 1970s, artists such as McCoy Tyner, Chick Corea, and Dexter Gordon have embraced the tune as a standard.
