"Everything I Have Is Yours" was composed by Burton Lane with lyrics by Harold Adamson in 1933. The song was written for the MGM film Dancing Lady, starring Joan Crawford and Clark Gable, where it was first sung by Art Jarrett.
Cast in E♭ major with a 32-bar AABA structure, the song features a sweeping, romantic melody built on long legato phrases. The A sections move through standard ii–V–I progressions enriched by secondary dominants and chromatic passing tones that lend the melody warmth and sophistication. The bridge shifts toward the subdominant area, adding a lush harmonic color before resolving gracefully back to the tonic. While structurally straightforward, the tune's wide intervallic leaps and sustained phrases make it a rewarding vehicle for expressive ballad playing.
Among the most notable recordings is Billy Eckstine's 1947 vocal version for MGM Records, later compiled on Everything I Have Is Yours: The Best of the M.G.M. Years. Billie Holiday recorded a deeply affecting rendition in 1952, and the song also served as the title track for a 1952 MGM musical film starring Marge and Gower Champion.
